Woodpecker Ai-Pex Apex Locator with Pulp Tester with LCD touch screen is a diagnostic endodontic equipment used for precise determination of working length of various types of root canals during root canal treatment. This device provide added benefit of determination of pulp vitality with inbuilt pulp tester.
This device is suitable for various complex root canals and is unaffected by blood and residual pulp. Whether the root canal is dry or wet, it can automatically and precisely determine the position of the apical foramen.
It is clinically recommended to make measurements to the 0.0 position and then manually subtract 0.5∼1 mm to obtain the final working length. When the length indicator bar reaches a digital number below 1.5, the machine intermittently emits low-frequency beeps. The closer the tip is to the apical foramen, the quicker the sound is. When the tip reaches the aipc stop, the machine emits a continuous-frequency beep. The sound level can be deducted as you wish.
Ai-Pex can be connected to an Endo Motor (which support Apex Locator) to allows real-time observation of the position of the file in the root canal during operation and activates many automatic function.

Direction to use
Direction to use
- Prepare the device by inserting the plug of the measuring wire into the right-side socket of the main unit.
- Ensure that the device is stable and avoid any impact or damage during use.
- Connect the appropriate accessories to the measuring wire. For Apex Locator mode, connect the white end of the wire to the lip hook and the gray end should be suspended
- Test the wire connection before each use. Press the power switch to turn on the device and make sure the scene of measuring the length of the root canal is displayed on the LCD screen. Ensure that the plug of the measuring wire is inserted correctly and that the file clip and lip hook are connected well to the measuring wire. Verify that the connection icon on the LCD screen shows steadily.
- Once the device is properly connected and the measurements are displayed, proceed to determine the working length of the root canal.
- Observe the indicating bar on the screen. When it reaches the position of the dial 0.0 and the word "APEX" is displayed, it indicates that the endo file has reached the anatomical apical foramen. Subtract 0.5-1.0 mm from the measured length to obtain the working length.
- If the indicating bar reaches the red area labeled "OVER," it means that the file has extended beyond the apex. In this case, carefully move the file slightly towards the apex until the signal returns to normal.
- Before each use, ensure that the access cavity is dry to prevent leakage or interference between the root canal and inaccurate measurements. Use a cotton pellet or air-blower to dry the cavity.
- Follow all sterilization procedures for the accessories, such as autoclaving the File clip, Lip hook, Touch probe, and Pulp tester probe before each use.
