Composition :

• Acid Rhodamine Dye in semi-aqueous base

Storage :

• Store at 5 °C to 25 °C, in a well sealed container
• Close materials tightly after use
• Shelf life – 3 years

• 1 x Explore liquid 15ml

• Make conservative cavity access.
• Wash and dry carious dentine.
• Dispense 1 or 2 drops of Explore in to a dappen dish and apply to the cavity with a brush or cotton pellet.
• Wait for 10 seconds and rinse with water spray.
• Remove red stained infected dentine.
• Repeat the application until carious dentine is removed and no further dentine staining occurs.

Caution : A low speed rotary instrument should be used for removing the carious dentine since frictional heat generated by the high speed tool can cause pain before all the stained outer carious dentine is removed.

Question: What is caries detection dye?
Answer: Used to provide a visual of the location of carious dentin, caries detection dyes are applied directly to the teeth being treated. Healthy tissue is unaffected, while the infected dentin takes on the color of the dye.

Question: Does caries indicator stain affected dentin?
Answer: Caries detector dyes have been developed to further help the diagnosis and removal of dental caries, by differentiating between infected and affected dentin. The dye stains only the infected outer carious dentin.
