Direction to use
- Formocresol is applied to the pulpotomy site on a cotton wool pledget.
- Any excess material should be blotted off the pledget prior to application.
- Traditionally, a 5-min application time has been recommended; however, contact times of only a few seconds are probably equally effective.
- It is prudent to limit both dose and contact time. Formocresol should only be applied to the pulpotomy site after haemostasis has been obtained.
- It should never be applied to bleeding tissue.
