Kids-e-Dental BioFlx Central Incisor Crowns Refills

Kids-e-Dental BioFlx Crowns are the world’s first flexible, durable, self-adaptable, and aesthetic pre-formed pediatric crowns, combining the best properties of stainless steel and zirconia crowns. Designed by a Pediatric dentist from India, these crowns offer an innovative solution for tooth-colored restorations in children. BioFlx crowns provide ideal full coverage restoration for extensive tooth decay, fractured or broken teeth, hypoplastic teeth, and teeth with developmental anomalies. They are also suitable for restoring decayed or damaged primary teeth when conservative treatments are insufficient. These crowns feature self-adaptive technology, allowing them to adjust in areas of slightly high occlusion. With a radiopacity of approximately 1mm, they enable clear evaluation of crown margins and pulp capping materials. Laser markings on the inner occlusal surface ensure easy identification and optimal aesthetics. The strong yet flexible design allows for easy placement and a snug fit, while the sandblasted intaglio surface enhances retention with self-setting RMGI and GI cement. BioFlx crowns can be seated using a bite stick and trimmed with crown and bridge scissors if necessary.

Note: Bioflx is not recommended for the Hall Technique, bruxism or manipulation by crimping.

Features

  • Metal-free, monochromatic tooth-colored crowns made of a completely biocompatible material.
  • Made of hight impact, biocompatible, hybrid resin polymer used in the medical field where high strength, flexibility and durability are required. They are Bis-GMA free and contain no metal.
  • Laser marking on the inner occlusal surface for easy identification and optimal esthetics.
  • Distinctively flexible and versatile nature for easy placement and a snug/ active fit.
  • Tooth preparation and handling properties very similar to an SSC, saving valuable chair time.
  • Wear resistance of Bioflx is similar to or better than traditional SSCs.
  • Rather than wearing, Bioflx crowns will self-adapt forming a 'dimple' in areas of high occlusion.
  • Stain resistant with no visible discoloration after > 1 year intraorally or when placed opposing an SSC.
  • Sandblasted intaglio surface for enhanced retention with self-setting RMGI & GI cements.
  • A regular GI (FujiCem I, Ketac)or RMGI (FujiCemII) should be sufficient for cementing Bioflx. A light-cured cement is not recommended.

Direction to use

  • Tooth Preparation: Begin by preparing the affected tooth according to standard dental procedures. Remove any decayed or damaged tooth structure, ensuring a clean and stable foundation for the crown.
  • Crown Selection: Select the appropriate size of Bioflx anterior crown from the kit based on the tooth being restored. Ensure that the selected crown matches the tooth's anatomy and fits snugly.
  • Crown Adjustment: If necessary, make any adjustments to the crown to ensure an optimal fit. This may involve trimming or shaping the crown to match the contours of the prepared tooth.
  • Etching: Apply an etching gel to the prepared tooth surface.
  • Rinse and Dry: Thoroughly rinse the etching gel off the tooth with water and then dry the tooth surface using air or a gentle stream of compressed air.
  • Adhesive Application: Apply the adhesive material to the dry tooth surface. Ensure even and complete coverage of the prepared area.
  • Crown Placement: Gently place the Bioflx crown onto the prepared tooth, aligning it properly with the tooth's anatomy. Apply gentle pressure to ensure the crown seats are full and accurately.
  • Excess Material Removal: Remove any excess adhesive or cement around the margins of the crown using an appropriate dental instrument or dental floss.
  • Cementation: Apply the cement material to secure the crown in place.
  • Occlusion Check: Verify the occlusion or the way the restored tooth contacts the opposing teeth. Adjust any high spots or interferences to achieve proper occlusion and ensure a comfortable bite.
  • Post-placement Instructions: Provide post-placement instructions to the patient or caregiver, including oral hygiene recommendations, dietary restrictions, and any specific care instructions for the restored tooth.

Product Related Questions

Question: Can I Crimp, Contour & Trim the crown?Answer: You can trim the crown with bridge scissors, when needed. Slightly flattening of proximal surface with howes plier is allowed, but you should not attempt to crimp Bioflx crowns.

Question: How do you describe the fit of Bioflx crowns?
Answer:
It is neither a “snap fit”, nor a “passive fit”. Bioflx crowns should fit snugly on the tooth, with slight resistance that can be described as a flex or active fit. It will flex over small convexities of the tooth.

Question: Can Bioflx crowns be sterilized?
Answer:
Cold sterilization, autoclave or steam sterilization may be used according to the standard instructions of the manufacturer of the sterilant or sterilizer. Bioflx crowns, as other pediatric crowns, are provided in non-sterile packaging. Clinician may choose to sterilize before use.

Question: Can I adjust the occlusion of Bioflx crowns?
Answer:
It is not recommended to use any kind of rotary instrument to adjust the occlusion of a Bioflx crown. The occlusal surface of the preparation should be reduced 1-1.5 mm, similar to an SSC preparation. If the crown is slightly high in occlusion, it will slightly self-adapt and may show a dimple in that area after a period of time.

Question: Are Bioflx crowns radiopaque?
Answer:
The radiopacity of Bioflx crowns is similar to the radiopacity of enamel and should allow radiographic evaluation of adaptation of the crown margins and pulpal therapy.

Question: Will blood or Salivary contamination affect the cementation of Bioflx crowns?
Answer:
If Bioflx crowns are contaminated with blood or saliva during try-in, they can be rinsed with water, dried and then cemented without any significant effect on cementation.

Question: Can I use Bioflx crowns in areas of space loss?
Answer:
Bioflx crowns will be available in narrow sizes to be easier to place in areas of space loss. Due their flexible nature and elastic memory, Bioflx crowns cannot be significantly altered in their shape or width with pliers. To fit Bioflx in areas of space loss, it is likely that circumferential reduction of the tooth will be needed to fit a smaller crown than would have been used if there were no space loss.

Question: Can I use a bite stick to seat a Bioflx crown?
Answer:
You can use significant force to seat a Bioflx crown onto a preparation, including heavy finger pressure or a bite stick. It is unlikely that you will break a Bioflx crown during seating.

Question: What should I use to cement Bioflx crowns?
Answer:
A regular glass ionomer cement should be sufficient for cementing Bioflx crowns. A self-setting resin modified glass ionomer cement can also be used. A light cured cement should NOT be used because the opacity of the crown will not let light pass through to set the cement.

Question: How does the wear resistance od Bioflx crowns compare to stainless steel crowns?
Answer:
Robust in house wear testing demonstrates that Bioflx crowns are at least as wear resistant as stainless steel crowns, after 800,000 cycles at 80 newtons on a Leinfelder wear machine. However, clinicians may see a “dimple” develop on the Bioflx crowns in areas of heavy occlusion. This “dimple” appears due to the self-adaptable technology of the material. Rather than wearing, the material “self adapts” to reduce the pressure of the opposing occlusal surface. For this reason, and for best results, it is recommended that Bioflx crowns not be placed in high occlusion on teeth with little or no occlusal preparation.
