Prepare the Mixing Area:
- Use a polymer paper mixing pad for a clean and non-contaminating surface.
- Gather the required materials, including the powder, liquid, and an Agate spatula.
Mix the Powder and Liquid:
- Measure the powder-to-liquid ratio as 3:1 for optimal consistency.
- Mix the components within 45 seconds to prevent premature setting.
- Use the Agate spatula to mix the materials over a large area, applying consistent pressure and smooth strokes for uniform blending.
Isolate the Cavity:
- Ensure the cavity is properly isolated using a rubber dam or other isolation techniques to avoid contamination.
Apply the Calcium Hydroxide Liner:
- Use a small applicator or spatula to carefully place the calcium hydroxide liner into the cavity.
- Cover the deepest areas to protect the pulp and promote secondary dentin formation.
Condition the Cavity Wall:
- Use a mild conditioner to prepare the cavity wall, ensuring proper adhesion for the glass ionomer cement (GIC).
Bulk Fill Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC):
- Insert the GIC material in bulk using an applicator.
- Shape and contour the material as required before initial setting.
