- Patient Preparation: Prepare the patient for the dental procedure, including administering local anesthesia if necessary, and ensure they are comfortable.
- Select the Instrument: Choose the GDC Periotome #4 (P4) from your sterilized dental instrument tray, confirming that it is in proper working condition.
- Position the Patient: Position the patient in the dental chair to provide clear access to the tooth requiring extraction or periodontal treatment.
- Isolate the Tooth: Use dental isolation techniques such as a rubber dam or cotton rolls to isolate the tooth you are working on, ensuring a dry field.
- Visual Examination: Carefully examine the tooth and the surrounding tissues to assess the condition of the periodontal ligament and determine the need for extraction or treatment.
