Direction to use

  • Prepare the patient: Ensure that the patient is in a comfortable position and has received appropriate anesthesia or sedation.
  • Position the forceps: Select the appropriate size and shape of the forceps based on the tooth being extracted. Hold the forceps with a firm grip, aligning the beaks with the desired orientation.
  • Access the tooth: Open the patient's mouth wide and use a mouth mirror and dental explorer to locate and access the wisdom tooth. Clear any debris or soft tissue around the tooth.
  • Engage the tooth: Gently guide the beaks of the forceps around the tooth, ensuring a secure grip on the crown. The beaks should be positioned as close to the tooth's root as possible.
  • Apply controlled pressure: Apply controlled and steady pressure using the forceps to loosen the tooth from its socket. Use a rocking motion if necessary to further dislodge the tooth.
  • Rotate if needed: If the tooth is impacted or angled, you may need to rotate the forceps gently to help disengage the roots from the surrounding bone.
  • Extract the tooth: Once the tooth is sufficiently loosened, exert a firm and controlled force to remove the tooth from its socket. Use caution to avoid excessive force that may cause damage to adjacent structures.
  • Clean and inspect: Thoroughly clean the extraction site and inspect for any remaining root fragments or debris. Use appropriate instruments to remove any remaining fragments if necessary.
  • Provide post-extraction care: Provide the patient with appropriate post-extraction instructions, including proper oral hygiene practices and pain management recommendations.
