Direction to use
Preparation:
- Select the appropriate base former: Choose the correct size and shape of the articulated base former based on the dental model or prosthesis you are working with.
- Clean the base former: Ensure the base former is clean and free of debris or contaminants before use.
- Preparing the Model:
- Mix the gypsum or stone (or other material used for pouring the model) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Position the base former: Place the base former on a flat surface or in the desired position on the dental model where the base will be formed.
Creating the Articulated Model:
- Pour the material: Carefully pour the mixed gypsum or stone into the base former, ensuring it fills all areas without air bubbles.
- Place the model: While the material is setting, place the prepared dental model (upper and lower casts) in the base former. The articulated base former will allow the models to be properly aligned and set in the correct relationship.
- Allow the material to set: Let the poured material harden, following the manufacturer’s recommended setting time for the specific type of gypsum or stone used.
Removing the Model:
- Release the base former: Once the material has set and hardened, carefully remove the base former. This will leave you with an articulated dental model, securely attached to the base.
- Inspect the model: Check the articulation of the model to ensure it aligns correctly and that there are no defects.
- Post-Use Handling:
- Cleaning: After use, clean the articulated base former thoroughly to remove any residual gypsum or stone, following the manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
- Storage: Store the base former in a dry, clean environment to maintain its shape and integrity for future use.
