Cleaning and Preparation:
- Clean the denture using a brush and detergent solution.
- Disinfect the denture according to the manufacturer's or dental laboratory's instructions.
- Relieve pressure areas and undercuts by grinding.
- Thoroughly rinse and dry the denture surface.
Application of Separator:
- Using the brush-cap provided, apply Separator for Visco-gel Temporary Soft Denture Liner only to areas where bonding is not desired, such as the external denture base and denture tooth surfaces. Do not use the brush on contaminated (non-disinfected) denture surfaces.
Mixing the Visco-gel Temporary Soft Denture Liner:
- Fill the appropriate measure to the indicated line to obtain the correct powder/liquid ratio.
- Tap lightly in the case of the powder.
- The recommended ratio is 1 measure of powder (3 g) and 1 measure of liquid (2 ml).
- Dispense one measure of powder into the mixing vessel.
- Add one measure of liquid (2 ml) and mix for 30 seconds at room temperature.
Application of Visco-gel Temporary Soft Denture Liner:
- Cover the tissue surface of the denture with the Visco-gel Temporary Soft Denture Liner mixture.
- To overcome the initial tackiness of the mix during placement in the denture, the operator may moisten their fingers.
- Insert the denture with the Visco-gel Temporary Soft Denture Liner material into the mouth approximately 2 or 3 minutes from the start of the mix.
- Remove undesired excess material beyond the denture, such as in retromolar areas.
- Instruct the patient to close gently in normal occlusion and remain in a rest position for a minimum of 2 minutes.
- Have the patient read aloud and perform functional movements or perform border molding manipulation as per usual techniques for approximately 2 minutes.
- Remove the denture from the mouth approximately 7 to 8 minutes from the start of the mix.
- Check for proper coverage, especially in border areas, and trim excess material with a sharp instrument.
Maintenance and Follow-up:
- Recall the patient after a few days to evaluate the Visco-gel Temporary Soft Denture Liner.
- If necessary, add a new mix to deficient areas and continue treatment until the tissues have returned to normal.
- After the completion of tissue conditioning, proceed to functional impression-taking, soft lining, or standard rebasing or remaking impression techniques.
Maintenance of Visco-gel treated dentures:
- After 1 day in the mouth, Visco-gel treated dentures can be cleaned by gentle brushing with a soft-bristled brush and clear water.
- Do not use commercially available chemical cleansers.
- Do not immerse the denture in cleaning solution.
