Poly-F Plus is a versatile dental cement that serves multiple purposes in restorative dentistry. It is a conventional zinc polycarboxylate cement presented as a powder, containing all the necessary reactive components. When mixed with demineralized water, it forms a reliable cement with excellent properties.
This dental cement is specifically designed for use in the cementations of crowns, bridges, inlays, and orthodontic bands. It provides a strong and durable bond between the prosthetic restorations and the natural teeth. Additionally, Poly-F Plus can be used as a cavity lining under all restorative materials, offering protection and insulation to the dental pulp. It is also suitable for temporary fillings and fillings in deciduous (baby) teeth. Its versatility extends to being a restorative base, providing a stable foundation for further restorative procedures. While using Poly-F Plus, certain precautions and safety measures should be observed. The material contains polyacrylic acid, which may cause skin, eye, and oral mucosa irritation. Therefore, it is important to avoid direct contact with these areas. Protective measures, such as glasses and rubber dam, should be used during application. Any use of the product should strictly follow the provided instructions to ensure optimal outcomes and patient safety.

Direction to use

Pulp Protection:

  • In deep cavities, cover the dentin close to the pulp (less than 1 mm) with a hard-setting calcium hydroxide liner, such as Dycal® calcium hydroxide liner (refer to its specific Instructions for Use).

Dosage and Mixing:

  • Keep the powder and liquid separated until ready for mixing.
  • Fill the water dispenser with distilled or de-ionized water.
  • Invert the powder bottle to fluff the powder.
  • Overfill the scoop with powder and strike off the excess with the bottle insert, leaving a flat surface level with the edge of the scoop. Avoid pressing the powder into the scoop to prevent a thick mixture.
  • Place the powder onto the provided pad or a glass slab.
  • Divide the powder into two halves using a stainless steel spatula.
  • Dispense two drops of water by holding the bottle vertically and squeezing gently.
  • Add one half of the powder to the water. As soon as the first half is wetted, incorporate the second half, then mix thoroughly. Mix rapidly to achieve a creamy consistency for cementation and a putty-like consistency for linings and temporary fillings. The mixing time for cementation consistency is 15 seconds, while the base consistency may take an additional 5 to 10 seconds.

Finishing:

  • Excess material can be removed immediately or after the completion of the setting time (refer to section 2.2 Dosage and Mixing). Avoid touching the cement when it is in the intermediate, rubbery condition. Finishing burs are recommended for removing surplus material after crown cementation. Appropriate hand instruments, like a dental probe and dental floss, are used for removing excess material.

Cleaning Instruments:

  • After use, clean instruments with water or drop them in a disinfectant or water to facilitate subsequent cleaning. Zinc polycarboxylate cements adhere to instruments and glass slabs, so immediate cleaning is recommended.
