DeTrey Conditioner 36 etching gel is a specialized dental product used for the preparation of tooth surfaces prior to the placement of adhesive materials. It comes in a convenient delivery form of 3 ml Luer-Lock syringes, which are used together with disposable steel cannulas (applicator needles) for precise application. The gel itself is blue-tinted and contains 36% phosphoric acid as its primary active ingredient. Phosphoric acid is commonly used in dentistry for its ability to etch tooth enamel, creating a microscopically rough surface that enhances the bond between the tooth and adhesive materials. This etching process allows for improved adhesion and durability of dental restorations.

  • Clean unprepared enamel with a rubber cup and pumice or a cleaning paste such as Nupro® Prophylaxis Pastes
  • Wash thoroughly with water spray and air-dry. Clean freshly cut enamel and dentine with water spray and then air-dry

2. Acid Conditioning of Enamel and Dentine (Total Etch Technique)

  • It is recommended to follow the Total Etch Technique described below: Remove cap from the end of the syringe. Attach disposable needle tip to end of the syringe. Turn tip clockwise to assure that it is fully seated. Gently extrude gel directly to the surface to be treated. Needle tip may be bent for easy access. Start to apply DeTrey Conditioner 36 gel (36% phosphoric acid) to the cavity surfaces at the enamel margins
  • For best results, condition enamel for at least 15 seconds and dentine for 15 seconds or less. Discard needle after use as needle may clog if gel is allowed to dry inside. Replace original cap

3. Rinsing and Drying

  • Remove gel with aspirator tube and /or vigorous water spray and rinse conditioned areas thoroughly for at least 15 seconds. Further treatment of the conditioned area depends on the adhesive material which is applied following the conditioning procedure. Consult respective directions for use
  • Once the surfaces have been properly treated, they must be kept uncontaminated. If salivary contamination occurs, thoroughly clean with vigorous water spray, dry, and repeat conditioning procedure of enamel for 5 seconds only. Rinse as described above. Proceed with adhesive procedure

Product Related Questions

Question: What is the purpose of using DeTrey® Conditioner 36 etching gel?
Answer:
DeTrey® Conditioner 36 etching gel is specifically designed for the etching of tooth enamel and conditioning of dentin before the placement of adhesive materials. It creates a microscopically rough surface on the tooth, enhancing the bond between the tooth and the adhesive material, leading to improved adhesion and durability of dental restorations.

Question: Can DeTrey® Conditioner 36 etching gel be used on both enamel and dentin?
Answer:
Yes, DeTrey® Conditioner 36 etching gel can be used for the conditioning of both enamel and dentin. However, dentin conditioning is typically performed when the total-etch technique is desired, whereas enamel conditioning is recommended in all cases prior to adhesive material placement.

Question: How is DeTrey® Conditioner 36 etching gel applied?
Answer
: To apply the gel, remove the cap from the syringe and attach a disposable steel cannula (applicator needle) to the syringe. Make sure the cannula is securely seated. Gently extrude the gel onto the surface to be treated, following the recommended conditioning times: at least 15 seconds for enamel and 15 seconds or less for dentin. After use, discard the disposable cannula and replace the original cap on the syringe.

Question:How should I remove the gel after conditioning?
Answer:
To remove the gel, use an aspirator tube and/or a vigorous water spray. Rinse the conditioned areas thoroughly for at least 15 seconds to ensure the complete removal of the gel.
