Direction to use

  • Begin by selecting the appropriate abrasive stone. Make sure that the stone is the right size and shape for the area that needs to be contoured or finished.
  • Use a high-speed handpiece with water spray to reduce heat generation and to help control debris.
  • Place the abrasive stone on the composite filling and gently apply pressure in a back-and-forth motion. Use light pressure to avoid damaging the surrounding tooth structure.
  • Pay close attention to the contour of the filling and use the abrasive stone to achieve the desired shape and size.
  • When working on interproximal areas, use a thin abrasive disc or strip to avoid damaging the adjacent tooth surface.
  • For subgingival areas, use a curved abrasive stone and work carefully to avoid damaging the gums.
  • Rinse the area frequently with water to remove debris and keep the abrasive stone clean.
  • Once you have achieved the desired contour and shape, switch to a finer abrasive stone or polishing system to achieve a smooth, glossy finish.
  • After polishing, evaluate the restoration to ensure it matches the adjacent teeth in terms of contour, size, and shade.
  • Finally, use a finishing bur to smooth any rough edges or sharp corners that may be present.

Product Related Questions

Question: What distinguishes the CA burs from the FG burs in the Shofu Composite Finishing Kit?Answer: The CA burs in the Shofu Composite Finishing Kit are designed for use with contra-angle handpieces, allowing for enhanced maneuverability in tighter spaces. In contrast, FG burs are friction grip burs intended for high-speed handpieces, such as Airotors, providing optimal cutting efficiency. This distinction ensures that clinicians can select the appropriate burs based on their specific procedural needs.

Question: Will these fit into myrotor airotor handpiece ?
Answer:
Yes, the Shofu Composite Finishing Kit will fit into your Endoking Myrotor airotor handpiece. Specifically, the FG (friction grip) version of the kit is compatible with airotor handpieces. However, the CA (contra-angle) kit is designed to fit into contra-angle handpieces. Make sure to use the appropriate kit for your specific handpiece to ensure proper fit and performance during composite finishing procedures.

Question: Should we use it with an air rotor or contra angle handpiece?
Answer:
It is available in both airotor and contra-angle compatibilities. You can choose according to your convenience and suitability.

Question: Why is contouring important for composite fillings?
Answer:
Contouring is important for composite fillings because it helps to achieve a natural, seamless appearance. Proper contouring can help to match the shape and size of the filling to the surrounding teeth and ensure that the bite is comfortable.

Question: What are Dura-Green silicon carbide stones used for?
Answer:
Dura-Green silicon carbide stones are used for adjusting and contouring dental restorations such as composite fillings, porcelain veneers, and crowns. These stones are made from a highly abrasive material that can quickly remove excess material from the restoration.

Question: What are Dura-White aluminum oxide stones used for?
Answer:
Dura-White aluminum oxide stones are used for fine finishing and polishing dental restorations such as composite fillings, porcelain veneers, and crowns. These stones are made from a less abrasive material than Dura-Green stones, which makes them ideal for polishing and smoothing the surface of the restoration.
